    Adult Education Programs at UA Cossatot

    The Adult Education Department and the Continuing Education Services Department at the University of Arkansas - Cossatot Community College are committed to providing adult students with an opportunity to reach each of their educational and professional goals. The main aim of our adult education and continuing education programs is to instill in each student a dedication of "Learning for Life" no matter where they are - or where they plan to go - in their academic journey.

    In order for prospective students to enroll in UAC’s Adult Education Program and specialized adult education classes, they shall meet the following conditions as outlined in Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, Title II the “Adult Education and Family Literacy Act“ (AEFLA):

    • They will have attained at least 16 years of age
    • They should not be enrolled or required to be enrolled in secondary school
    • And they:
      • Lack sufficient mastery of basic educational skills that enable them to function effectively in society;
      • Do not have a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent; or
      • Have a limited proficiency to speak, read, or write the English language.

    The compulsory attendance law in Arkansas requires children to attend public school through their 17th year. This law allows 16- and 17-year-olds to enroll in adult education programs such as those offered by UA Cossatot under special circumstances detailed in the minor policies located in the UA Cossatot Adult Education Handbook linked below.

    If you are interested in joining our adult education center courses, please explore each of the links listed in the “Contents” section below for more information. When you are ready to register for a program, please click the “Register Here” button at the bottom of this page.

    For those seeking our continuing education programs such as continuing education in nursing, plumbing, or cosmetology, please visit our dedicated Continuing Education page.
