UA Cossatot is the first college in Arkansas to offer an internal textbook rental system providing students with an option to rent course-required textbooks for an average fee of $30 each per semester. As part of this program, many instructors are using open educational resources (OER) to teach, eliminating the need for a textbook. UA Cossatot leads Arkansas in the use of open resources with 71% of courses using OER. Students have saved over $3 million through this innovative program.

Students can check the required materials list (available below) or the course syllabus for each course to determine if a textbook is required, and visit the Educational Resource Center (ERC) to rent textbooks.

If renting textbooks, students will be asked to sign a rental agreement form and a purchase agreement form for courses requiring supplemental workbooks or software. Students may opt out of the program and purchase or rent their textbooks elsewhere after notifying the ERC.

Please read the rental agreement for complete details.

Please direct any questions about the Textbook & OER Program to the college's Director of Educational Resources & OER Specialist Relinda Ruth, rruth@cccua.edu
