Wright Establishes Scholarship to Support UA Cossatot Agriculture Students
December 19, 2022
The UA Cossatot Foundation recently received a $1,000 gift from Al and Vicky Wright of De Queen, Arkansas, to establish the Al and Vicky Wright Agriculture Scholarship.
The scholarship will award one student in spring 2023 by the recommendation of UA Cossatot’s Agriculture instructor, Kelli Harris. This year’s recommended student is April Klitz.
Mr. Al Wright taught the very first agriculture course offered at UA Cossatot. “Agriculture is an important industry, and the percentage of people working in this field is becoming less and less. We wanted to help support more people wanting to enter this field,” said Wright.
The UA Cossatot Foundation welcomes gifts of any amount to support scholarships and help UA Cossatot achieve its educational mission.
“The UA Cossatot Agriculture Department truly appreciates the generosity of Al and Vicky Wright. Their scholarship will provide a very deserving agriculture student with the resources needed to be successful in college. Al and Vicky have been very supportive of our agriculture program over the years; from inviting classes to visit their beef cattle operation on field trips to getting our students involved in the Sevier County Cattlemen’s Association, they are helping build the next generation of farmers and ranchers. I cannot think of a more deserving student to receive this scholarship than April Klitz. She is our current collegiate FFA president and has volunteered countless hours to our program. Not only is she a dedicated student, she also stays busy keeping up with her three children and working on the family cattle and goat farm. April will be completing both her associate of agriculture science and associate of agriculture business degrees in the spring of 2023,” said UA Cossatot Agriculture Faculty Kelli Harris.
