UAC Men and Women Take Two From ETBU
January 31, 2023
The Colts and Lady Colts picked up non-conference wins on Monday night, January 30 in Lockesburg.
In the women's game, UA Cossatot (UAC) scored 17 straight points to close out the first quarter and rolled to an 81-47 victory over the East Texas Baptist University developmental squad. UA Cossatot broke a three-game losing streak and ran their season record to 13-11 with the win. Jera Cotten and Kayla Fuller each had 17 to lead the Lady Colts, as five UAC players finished in double figures. Khuyler Hardy had 16, Amari Morrison 14, and Keyonna Holley had 11.
The men's game was much more difficult as ETBU seemed intent on avenging a 98-83 home loss to the Colts in November. The Tigers were up 26-23 at halftime and stretched that lead to nine points midway through the second half. The Colts rallied and sealed the deal with a pair of Jordan Wright free throws with six seconds remaining to earn the 72-69 victory. It was a big night for Jalen Subject who led all scorers with 20 points. Eli Hill had 12 before fouling out, and Darel Reece put in 10. The win snapped a six-game losing skid for the 12-14 Colts.
Up next for the UA Cossatot round ballers will be a pair of games Saturday, February 4, at the UA Cossatot Bank of Lockesburg Historic Gym when they host National Park College to open the second half of the conference season. The Lady Colts will tip off at 2 pm, and the men at 4 pm. If you can't make it to the game this Saturday, you can watch the action live on ed88radio.com.
