UA Cossatot Names New Director of Advancement
March 30, 2017
University of Arkansas Cossatot recently named Emily Newlin as Director of Institutional Advancement.
The office of Institutional Advancement is responsible for the college’s marketing efforts and managing UA Cossatot Foundation fundraising, donor relations, and events.
Newlin has been with UA Cossatot since 2012, serving in the roles of Marketing Coordinator and, earlier, College Recruiter and UA Cossatot Student Ambassador Sponsor.
UA Cossatot Chancellor, Dr. Steve Cole, stated, “Emily comes well-equipped with her drive and ideas to lead our Advancement Department to new levels of success. We look forward to the growth of the college and foundation as a result of her vision and leadership.”
“The last five years at UA Cossatot have taught me so much about small colleges and small communities. We have amazing opportunities, even better than 4-year institutions, to serve our students and communities,” stated Newlin.
“UAC’s Advancement team is excited to contribute even more to the school’s mission of embracing diversity and improving the lives of those in our region by providing quality education, outstanding service, and relevant industry training in the coming years,” said Newlin.
Newlin, from Nacogdoches, Texas, came to Southwest Arkansas in 2012 with her husband, Reverend Jonathan Newlin of Hot Springs, AR, to serve as senior pastor at Wickes Church of the Nazarene. Before locating to Wickes, Arkansas, Newlin and her husband lived in Rwanda, Africa, working with a retail social enterprise called Azizi Life. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma and a Master of Arts degree in International Development from Eastern University in St. David, Pennsylvania.
Her marketing, higher education, and development experience comes from five years at UA Cossatot, completing the Arkansas Community Colleges Leadership program, serving as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America at HeartLine, Inc. in Oklahoma City, OK, and her service as a board member of the Azizi Life U.S. Board of Directors.
