NASHVILLE – The Department of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas will host a special roundtable discussion dealing with Social Worker Ethics on Friday, December 17. This half-day session begins at 9AM and ends at 12:30PM, and will be held at CCCUA’s Nashville Extension at 415 N. 4th St. The cost of the roundtable is $55 per person, and the registration deadline is Monday, December 13.       Continuing Education Coordinator Tammy Coleman said, “This program meets the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board’s ethics training requirements. The Board requires this training for social workers’ license renewal, which comes up every two years.  We are pleased to be able to offer this service to the practitioners in our service area.”

This three-hour program provides attendees with an in-depth review of the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards for Practice, which applies to all social workers.  Lecture, roundtable discussion, and an exploration of applicable code of ethics violations are used to promote understanding and compliance by practitioners. Participants are encouraged to bring examples and dilemmas from their own experience.

Coleman noted that Telia Dunn will be the facilitator for this group discussion. Dunn is currently a therapist with Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health Center in Center’s the Nashville Clinic. She holds an undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and her graduate degree is a Masters of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has also worked in home health, Hospice, hospitals, dialysis centers, group homes, and in a gerontological-psychiatric unit. Most recently, she has completed two three-year terms on the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board.

Professionals who may benefit from an in-depth review of Arkansas Social Work Licensing Standards’ Code of Ethics and/ or need to meet the Social Work licensing requirements for training as set by the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board.
