Sevier Co. Clerk To Hold “New Voter Education”
Session At CCCUA Oct. 21
18 October 2004
DE QUEEN – Sandra Dunn, Sevier Co. Clerk, will hold
a free education session for newly-registered voters at Cossatot Community
College of the University of Arkansas on Thursday, October 21 at 7PM in B-11
and 12 of the Frachiseur-Pulliam Educational Center in De Queen. The College
is located at the corner of US 70 and Arkansas Highway 399. The free 30-minute
session is non-partisan and open to the public.
The session, aimed at acquainting first-time voters with the voting process,
is being held in response to the large number of new registrations the County
has received this year. Sample ballots and a privacy booth will be available
to show new voters what to expect when they go to the polls.
“We are holding this session to help people become more familiar with
the voting process, because we know that the more comfortable they are with
the process, the more likely they will be to vote on Election Day,”
Dunn said. “Participating in elections is a crucial part of sustaining
our democracy, and is the process by which we obtain a government that truly
represents the will of the people,” she added.
Dunn noted that after explaining the basics of the voting process, there would
be a period for questions and answers. She also stated that people who have
voted previously are also welcome to attend. “If people haven’t
voted in a while, there may be some changes, so we want them to know what
to expect”. For more information, call Dunn at 642-2852.
Cossatot Community College offers both technical certification and Associate’s

of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
