Inquiries Sought for Paralegal Class Series
05 October 2004
DE QUEEN – The Workforce Development and Continuing
Education Department at Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas
is conducting an informal survey to determine the level of public interest
in classes geared toward becoming a paralegal. Nationally, there is a large
demand for paralegals, and that demand is growing.
Continuing Education Coordinator Tammy Coleman said, “We already offer
a six-part, non-credit paralegal certificate program online in partnership
with EducationToGo, but we are trying to determine the level of interest in
pursuing a certificate of proficiency in paralegal studies in our community.
This would involve bringing the instructors to our area, so we have to have
a certain minimum number of students to offer it as an on-campus class.”
CCCUA offers certificates of proficiency in more than two dozen fields. Persons
who are interested in pursuing a certificate of proficiency in Paralegal Studies
at CCCUA should contact the Workforce Development and Continuing Education
office by November 1 at 800-844-4471.
Cossatot Community College offers both technical certification and Associate’s
degrees in a wide range of fields on its campus at De Queen, at extension
sites at Nashville and Ashdown, and at cccua.edu. It has an enrollment of
more than 1,000 students, and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission
of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
