CCCUA Hosts Articulation Workshop
17 September 2004
DE QUEEN – On September 14, 2004, CCCUA hosted the Southwest
Region Articulation Workshop for the Arkansas Association of College Registrars
and Admissions Officers (ArkACRAO) at its Ashdown Extension. Thirty high school
counselors, representing schools as far north as Magazine, and as far east
as Gurdon, had the opportunity to met with 26 college recruiters.
The workshop brought together college recruiters and high school counselors
to discuss changes in admission requirements, scholarship information, and
deadlines for enrollment. This information will give high school counselors
the opportunity to provide the most up- to-date information on Arkansas colleges
to college-bound seniors.
Dean of Student Services Kay Cobb said, “We were very pleased to have
so many colleges represented at this workshop. We feel that both they and
the high school counselors from our region came away from the workshop with
a great deal of information that they can put to use right away in helping
students make the best-informed choices about where to attend school.”
Cossatot Community College offers both technical certification and Associate’s
degrees in a wide range of fields on its campus at De Queen, at extension
sites at Nashville and Ashdown, and at cccua.edu. It has an enrollment of
more than 1,000 students, and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission
of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
