UA-F Master’s Program Recruitment Visit to CCCUA Set for June 21
11 June 2004

DE QUEEN – Dr. Kenda Grover, a member of the Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources, and Communication Disorders at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, in conjunction with CCCUA Distance Education Chair Steve Cole, has announced that CCCUA will be a conduit for a 100% web-based Master of Education Degree with two areas of concentration, beginning with the fall, 2004 semester.

Grover said, “This program offers students the opportunity to access a master’s degree program from anywhere, anytime, which is one of the most powerful things about Internet learning. It also offers students a choice of a degree in either Human Resource Development or Vocational and Adult Education.” She noted that the degree prepares graduates to be teachers, administrators, or private consultants in higher education, academic, business, community, or industrial settings.

Cole said, “We are very pleased and excited to offer this program to the people in our service area, because we are so committed to keeping CCCUA on the cutting edge of distance education.”

The non-thesis degree programs consist of a two-year course rotation, which includes summer terms.

Grover added that the requirements for degree completion are that a student complete 33 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00, and that they pass a written comprehensive examination in final academic semester. Students may transfer in a maximum of six credit hours from another institution into this program.

She stated that the requirements for admission are a GPA of 2.7 on all bachelor’s-level coursework from a regionally accredited college or university, or a score of 50% higher on the GRE or MAT test, or a minimum 3.20 GPA on their last 60 hours of undergraduate work. She added that students who do not meet these conditions may be admitted on a conditional basis.

She described the admissions process, noting that students are assigned a faculty member as an advisor, with whom they will work with to structure and plan their program of study.

Course offerings include: Learner in Adult Education, Change Process, Computer Technology, Foundations of Adult Education, Foundations of Human Resource Development, Foundations of Vocational Education, Training Needs Assessment, and Developing Human Resources. Applications are being accepted now for the fall semester.

Dr. Grover will be at the De Queen campus of Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas on June 21st at 6:00 in Room T-12 in the Donn Allison Technology Center. Following a brief presentation, a question-and-answer session will be held to allow prospective students the chance to inquire about program specifics.
