DE QUEEN – Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas is offering a new course in Texas Government, which will benefit Education, Criminal Justice and other majors seeking to fulfill requirements for Texas certifications and degrees. The course, entitled, State and Local Government: Texas, will help students meet core requirements for degree completion and certification at Texas universities.
The course will be offered at CCCUA-Ashdown in the Spring 2004 semester on Thursdays from 4-7:00 p.m. This web-augmented course is particularly helpful for those students needing to meet core requirements close to home and on a flexible schedule. Because much of the course material is available via the internet, the class will meet on-campus about twice a month for the semester. Students may register for the Texas Government class at Cossatot Community College-UA campuses in De Queen, Nashville, or Ashdown. The class begins January 22nd at Ashdown.
The course instructor is Dr. Larry Moser. Moser is both Division Chair for Technology at CCCUA and an adjunct instructor in Public Administration Leadership for Texas A & M University-Texarkana. He holds a graduate degree in Public Administration, is a former Texas City Manager, and was formerly a staff researcher in two federally-sponsored programs. He has taught Political Science classes part-time for Texas A & M-Texarkana since 1999. Additionally, he has taught Texas Government, part-time for Texarkana College, Northeast Texas Community College and Texas A & M University-Commerce.
Cossatot Community College offers both technical certification and Associate’s degrees in a wide range of fields on its campus at De Queen, at extension sites at Nashville and Ashdown, and at cccua.edu. It has an enrollment of more than 1,000 students, and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commission on Higher Learning.
