CCCUA Joins Forces With UA-Monticello School of Forestry Resources
Release Date: 21 Oct 2003

DE QUEEN – Larry Moser, Chair of the Division of Technology at Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas, announced that the College has entered into an agreement with the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s School of Forestry Resources. Moser said, “CCCUA students who are interested in further studies in Forestry, Surveying, and Spatial Information Systems can make a seamless transfer from CCCUA to UA-Monticello through this agreement.” He noted that the agreement permits students to complete most academic and some technical coursework at CCCUA and transfer to UA-M for completion of one of several Bachelor’s degree offerings in the UA-M School of Forestry.

One degree offering, Spatial Information Systems, represents the cutting edge of computer, drafting, and surveying applications. Spatial Information Systems includes studies in GPS (Global Positioning Systems), GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and RS (Remote Sensing). SIS is rapidly becoming a standard tool in forestry, environmental science, real estate appraisal, industrial development, city planning, research, and many other fields.

Moser said, “This new agreement is a real plus for southwest Arkansas students. They can study and close to home in preparation for completing a Bachelor degree at UA-Monticello’s highly recognized School of Forestry Resources.” He added that the School of Forestry Resources offers majors in Forestry, Wildlife Management, and Spatial Information Systems. Students can complete minors in Surveying, Forestry, Wildlife Management, and Geographic Information Systems.

Residents of west central Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma, and northeast Texas wanting more information regarding study at UA-M’s School of Forestry Resources can contact Moser at 870 584 4471.

Cossatot Community College offers both technical certification and Associate’s degrees in a wide range of fields on its campus at De Queen, at extension sites at Nashville and Ashdown, and at cccua.edu. It has an enrollment of more than 1,000 students, and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commission on Higher Learning.
