DE QUEEN – CCCUA Division of Technology Chair Larry Moser announced today that Automotive Service Technology Instructor Jim Claus recently completed testing for certification as an Advanced Level Specialist. This recognition is reserved for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Master Mechanics who demonstrate extremely high levels of knowledge and ability in Automobile Advanced Engine Performance. The designation, issued by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, is reserved for auto technicians who demonstrate exceptional competence in servicing today’s technically advanced engines.
Claus said he would conduct Advanced Engine Performance classes for area auto technicians beginning in Spring or Summer of 2004. This instruction will provide area automotive service shop personnel with the highest-level and most contemporary servicing information and techniques available. Area auto shop owners desiring more information should contact Moser at 800-844-4471.
Moser said Claus has not only advanced his own level of automotive technology competence, but has “successfully built local recognition for the College’s Automotive Service Technology program.” He noted that over the summer, the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (NIASE) announced that the College’s Automotive Service Technology program met all certification requirements for designation as a high-quality instructional and applications program. This certification is renewable in 5 years, ensuring CCCUA students will receive an automotive technology education that meets or exceeds national automotive industry standards.
Moser added that the College’s Automotive Service Technology and Collision Repair Technology programs have experienced significant increases in enrollment for the Fall semester. He noted that the Collision Repair program was also recently accredited by ASE for another 5 year term due to the efforts of Instructor Bruce Davis, and stated that high school students may enroll in the Automotive Service Technology program with the approval of their counselor. High school and GED graduates are also welcome to enroll in either program. For more information, contact Moser at 800-844-4471.
