Third Annual Bass Tournament Update       
Release Date: 28 MAR 2002

      DE QUEEN - Cristy Brecheisen, one of the faculty/staff coordinators of the Third Annual Endowment Fund Bass Tournament, has released a current list of local merchants who are donating merchandise, cash and other items to the Tournament this year. The Tournament is to be held Saturday, April 6 at Oak Grove Pavilion on De Queen Lake. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the College's Endowment Fund. The Endowment Fund has set a goal of raising $1 million by 2005. A one-million dollar endowment would fund sixty permanent scholarships to the school.

      Brecheisen said, "This year, we have nearly fifty sponsors, and of course we will be happy to have more. We really appreciate how supportive they are of the College and what we're doing in the community." Advance entries are preferred at CCCUA's three campuses and Baker's Pawn in De Queen, Arkansas Vacuum in Mena and Sanders Marine in Broken Bow, but fees can be paid onsite at Oak Grove Pavilion. The advance entry fee is $30 per boat, $35 the day of the tournament.

      The tournament will begin at 7AM and end at 2PM. Boat inspection and registration begin at 5AM at the Oak Grove Pavilion. First, second and third cash prizes of $250, $150 and $75 will be given for the three heaviest stringers of fish, with five fish per stringer. There will also be a $100 prize for anyone who brings in a "target weight" fish.

      Brecheisen added, "We've seen a lot more excitement about the tournament this year, even though there are some other events that same day. People are very enthusiastic about the prize money we're offering, and have been telling all their friends about it."       Cossatot Community College offers both Associate's degrees and technical certification in a wide range of fields on its campus at De Queen, at extension sites at Nashville and Ashdown, and at http://cccua.edu.
