EMT Basic Refresher Course Announced
05 April 2005
DE QUEEN – Due to heavy public demand, the Workforce Development and Continuing Education Department at Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas will offer an EMT Basic Refresher Course at the Dierks Ambulance Service in Dierks, Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24. The 24 class-hour refresher course begins at 8AM and ends at 8:30PM both days. The course may be taken to maintain state certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or to aid in meeting NREMT renewal requirements. The cost for the refresher course is $78 per student, and can be paid by phone with Visa, Discover, or MasterCard. Purchase orders are also accepted. The registration deadline is 4:30PM, Wednesday, April 20.
Continuing Education Coordinator Tammy Coleman said, “We’ve formatted these classes as a low-stress educational experience. They’re designed to refresh people’s existing knowledge and introduce new information as it is appropriate.”
Coleman added that pre-registration through the Continuing Education office is required for attendance; registration will not be available at the door. Contact the Workforce Development and Continuing Education department at 800-844-4471 to register, or for more information. Registration is also available at the front desks at CCCUA’s Extension Sites in Nashville and Ashdown. Coleman added, “We have offered these classes for some time, and realize that long, multi-session classes are difficult for EMT’s to fit into their busy schedules. That’s why we’re offering this EMT Refresher in a single weekend, because it allows EMT’s to complete their renewal requirements quickly.”
Cossatot Community College offers both technical certification and Associate’s degrees in a wide range of fields on its campus at De Queen, at extension sites at Nashville and Ashdown, and at cccua.edu. It has an enrollment of more than 1,100 students, and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commission on Higher Learning.
