Youth Anti-Smoking Education Program Set

DE QUEEN – The Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Arkansas and the Southwest Regional Youth Tobacco Prevention Task Force will hold a training session at Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas’s De Queen campus on Saturday, April 16, from 8:30AM to 3PM. The meeting, which will be held in Rooms B11 and 12 (The Frachiseur-Pulliam Educational Center), will train young people to be leaders in their communities in anti-tobacco efforts. Students will be trained in an interactive setting titled “Tobacco Prevention 101”.
The event is sponsored by the Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Arkansas, Stamp Out Smoking (SOS), De Queen Regional Medical Center, and Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas.
Educators and students ages 13 to 18 from Mena to Arkadelphia to El Dorado and Texarkana are invited to participate in the session, but space is limited to the first 50 applicants. Registration is free, and lunch and snacks will be provided. Door prizes will also be awarded. For more information, please contact Tionna L. Cossatot Community College offers both technical certification and Associate’s degrees in a wide range of fields on its campus at De Queen, at extension sites at Nashville and Ashdown, and at cccua.edu. CCCUA collaborates with other colleges and universities to offer bachelor's and master's degrees on its three campuses. It has an enrollment of more than 1,100 students, and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
