FAFSA Financial Aid Workshops Set
01 Marck 2005

DE QUEEN – Four free workshops showing how to use the Internet to apply for federal financial aid has been set for four consecutive days in March, according to Financial Aid Director Denise Hammond.

Hammond said the workshop will be held at the College’s De Queen campus in room T-14 of the Donn Allison Technology Center on Monday and Tuesday, March 7 and 8, on March 9 in the Computer Lab at CCCUA-Nashville, and March 10 th in the Computer Lab at CCCUA-Ashdown. All workshops will be offered from 9AM to 6PM.

“People who want help filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online should bring their 2004 tax return and W-2 forms, as well as documentation of any untaxed income,” Hammond said. “We want these workshops to be as relaxed and informal as possible, but we do have to have that information so the applications can be completed,” she said.

Hammond added, “Billions of dollars in educational aid go unclaimed each year, because people don’t know how to apply for it. Lots of people don’t even know about the Pell grants, which are one of the main sources of financial aid for our students.” She noted that workshop participants will receive a list of websites which they can check to determine if they can apply for additional financial aid from foundations and other nonprofit organizations that support the aspirations of students seeking higher education.
