Secondary Vocational Enrollment Up 25% Over Spring 2004
03 February 2005

DE QUEEN – More high school students than ever are enrolled at the Secondary Vocational Centers at CCCUA’s De Queen campus and Nashville Extension. The 111 students presently enrolled represent a 25% increase over spring 2004.

Secondary Vocational Center Site Director Pat Earnest announced that the students are enrolled in five programs of study: Medical Professions Education, Computer Engineering, Automotive Service Technology, Construction Technology, and Radio/TV Broadcasting.

“We are obviously very pleased by the support we are getting from the public schools we serve,” Earnest said. “They and the students have realized that this is a great way to get practical, hands-on experience in a field in which the students are interested. Even better, the students earn high school credit toward graduation, and college credit toward an Associate of Applied Science degree or a Technical Certificate at the same time.” She added, “The students acquire marketable workplace skills in a technical field while they gain knowledge that will help them choose a college major wisely.”
