UA Cossatot Colts Team Roping Top in Nation
MARTIN, TN– UA Cossatot rodeo team finished the final rodeo of the season at the 46th annual UT Martin College Rodeo held April 10 – 13.
The Team Roping duo of Brody Braden and Tanner Caudle has consistently placed well all season and not only held on to their lead in the standings and qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, WY but are also currently ranked number one in the national standings.
In the men’s competition at UT Martin, the Colts brought home a third place finish. The team was led by the duo of Braden and Caudle in Team Roping, winning the long go, and first in both the short go and the average. Surber also placed in Team Roping and Kane Graham teamed up with Coe Watlington from SAU in the Team Roping. The UA Cossatot Men’s rodeo team finished in the fifth spot in the Ozark Region.
The Colts women’s team posted its best finish of the year, finishing second by only 20 points behind Missouri Valley College. The women’s team was led by the outstanding performance of Whitney DeSalvo of Center Ridge, AR. DeSalvo blew past her competition and captured the Women’s All-Around title of the UT Martin rodeo. The freshman was first in the long go, fourth in the short go and first in the average in the Breakaway Roping. She and her partner Ryan Surber also won third in the long go, fourth in the short go, and third in the average of the Team Roping en route to her outstanding finish. Also competing for the UA Cossatot Colt’s women’s team were Marissa Robbins in Team Roping and Lacey Jo Singleton in Breakaway Roping and Barrel Racing. The women’s team made great strides this season, finishing eighth place overall in the Ozark Region.
