Celebrate The Rebirth Of Spring By Donating Blood

De Queen, AR: It’s been quite a winter. El Nino showed its teeth by bringing cold and fierce weather to most of the country this winter. But spring is just around the corner; no matter that Punxsutawney Phil called for more weeks of winter, the rebirth of springtime is imminent. “How about celebrating spring by donating blood?” suggested Karina of United Blood Services. “What better way to mark spring’s renewal than by giving the gift of life to someone else? Giving blood during spring time can be a great tradition, like spring cleaning, and it’s a gift that the recipient will always remember!” Karina added. United Blood Services encourages people to donate blood now and two more times this year. And donating in the spring is like a great inner spring cleaning: giving others something you have plenty of, just like that pile of clothes and household items going to the community donation center. The message is the same. One person can truly make a difference, Karina said. Potential donors can make an appointment to give at UnitedBloodServices.org or by calling 903-277-0815. Donors receive a free cholesterol test. Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
