New Student Logon Procedure

To better serve our students in the future, we at CCCUA will be moving to a system where the same username and password can be used to access on-line courses and college services.

A student’s username will be the combination of the first four letters in their last name—or their full last name if it is less than four letters long—and their complete student ID. A student’s initial password will be the full eight digits in their date of birth. For example, if their name is April Smith, and student ID is 12345, and they were born on January 1, 1986, their username would be smit12345 and their password would be 01011986.
This username and password will be the same whether using Campus Connect, Blackboard, and any campus computer. Of course, students may only have a Blackboard login if they are simply taking an online course with us.

  • Campus Connect – This is our new Internet accessible interface to our Student Information System. Students can use Campus Connect to register for classes online, check their class schedule, and view their unofficial transcript, among other things.
  • Blackboard – This is our online, distance education delivery platform we use to provide classes over the Internet.
  • Campus Computers – With a username and password, students will be able to log into any student-use computer at any of our college sites. In fact, we’ll no longer have the blanket login accounts we’ve used in the past so students will need to use their new username and password to gain access to campus computers.
  • Student Email - You access the mail system from a web browser with the url:  http://mail.cccua.edu/webmail/. At the login screen, type in you account name and your password:
  • Account name:  (first four letters of last name) + (StudentID)     
  • For example: Kay Cobb with studentID of 25463 would be cobb25463
  • Password:  The person’s birthdate (MMDDYYYY).  Do put in leading zeros!
  • Your email address will be:  (full last name) + (student id number) @mail.cccua.edu      
  • For example: cobb25463@mail.cccua.edu
  1. Your INBOX, etc are on the left panel of the browser once you successfully log into the mail system.
  2. To create an email to be sent: Click on the link called “Compose”.
  3. Fill out the To: field.
  4. Fill out the Subject: field.
  5. Put something in the message body box.
  6. If you have an attachment, scroll to the bottom of the browser page and look for a line starting with “Attach:”.
  7. Click the “Browse” button and select the file that you want to attach located on your computer.
  8. Click the “Add” button to actually attach the selected file to the email.
  9. Click the “Send” button when you are ready to send your email.  There is a “Send” button on the top and bottom of the browser page.
  10. When you are ready to exit SquirrelMail, click the “Sign Out” link in the upper right corner.

Note – All students will be requested to change their user name and password the first time they log into a campus computer. The new password will need to be at least seven letters long. It can be longer, but must be at least seven letters long. All CCCUA instructors can assist with this should a student need help.
