Fast-paced and rewarding careers in catering are available with the help of a technical certification in catering. Graduates might work in hotels, clubs or restaurants or as self-employed caterers, cooking and serving food from around the world. Earning a technical certification in catering will educate students about modern food-preparation techniques, recipe selection, nutrition, menu planning, and other key areas of the catering operation. A technical certification in catering can put students on the fast track to success either as part of a large organization or as an independent entrepreneur. The planning, cooking and presentation skills taught in culinary arts programs can come in handy in dozens of different jobs.
Students must complete College Reading, Essential English, and Essential Math courses with a “C” or higher or show scores on ASSET, COMPASS, or ACT indicating proficiency in these areas.
